Mount Louisa Sunset Walk & Picnic

Written by Sandra Lamari

Tonight’s group was made up of fresh new faces, old faces we haven’t seen for a long time, out of town visitors, the usuals, people who broke their PBs and 1 pooch!

There was a comfortable breeze tonight which made the temperature, though still warm, quite pleasant.

After leaving the car park the group made a steady pace up the hill stopping occasionally for a quick snap, a rest and to take in the views. Townsville was green and the air was so clear we could easily see the stacks at Yabulu. We thought that the sunset would be hampered by the cloud that had been hanging over the Townsville all day but it cleared up and we got to see some beautiful colours.

I must say that I am impressed with the newer hikers fitness levels and their level of improvement in the few short weeks since they’ve joined! Even newbie Diesel the pup put in a stellar effort ðŸ¤£

It was so good to see everyone tonight, see you on the Dam wall next Thursday.
