Pink granite, green filamentous algae and blue skies – for those that have visited the lower and mid reaches of Ollera creek at this time of year, I’m sure you’d agree that the three blend together perfectly to provide the explorer with one of the most beautiful creek line hiking experiences in the Townsville region.
Townsville Hike and Explore organised an event suitable for all ages, fitness levels and capabilities to share the Ollera experience with our community, and we welcomed group members from Ingham and the Burdekin along with us on a warm November morning. A couple of group members bought along their children and grandchildren to witness the beauty that is Ollera Creek.
Water levels are low, given the time of year, however there is a steady flow in the creek and given the depth of some of the pools, we still managed a swim or two along the way – much to the enjoyment of the group!
What an amazing part of the world we live in!
