Join the Townsville Hike and Explore Heart Foundation Walking Group!

Each Day, on average, 20 of our fellow Australians die of a heart attack.

Being physically inactive is one of the risk factors for heart disease. ‘Inactive’ means not getting the amount of activity recommended by the Australian guidelines. Regular physical activity makes you less likely to have a heart attack or develop heart disease. It also helps control other heart disease risk factors like high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and being overweight. There are plenty of other benefits too. If you get regular physical activity, it’s likely you will live longer, feel more energetic, have stronger bones and muscles, and feel happier and more relaxed. And if you have heart disease, physical activity is important to help you manage it. (HF Website)

Townsville Hike and Explore is partnering with the Heart Foundation and getting involved in being a part of Australia’s largest walking community. We have formed a group called “Townsville Hike and Explore Heart Foundation Walkers” and we’ll be running events in conjunction with the Heart Foundation every second Tuesday evening on the strand, STARTING on TUESDAY 21 JANUARY.

These events are for those in our community that would like to get active, build and improve fitness levels, explore some of Townsville’s favourite family friendly places in a social and friendly environment and take part in a short walk led at a slow and steady pace.

The walks will be no more than 3km in total and we will aim for 45-60 minutes walking time.

You can attend by clicking on the following link and joining the group.

We’ll meet at Strand Park at 5.30pm.
