In our final scheduled ‘group’ event before I decided to postpone events until after the current situation eases, a small group of Townsville Hikers & Explorers tackled Round Mountain for a sunset and night hike.
We made our way up the mountain on a humid Sunday afternoon and were treated to some spectacular views of the Ross Dam, Bowling Green National Park, Pinnacles National Park, Mingela State Forest and the Mount Stuart Range, just to name a few.
How wonderful it was to see our great city so green and lush after recent rains and the dam level still holding strong!
Under headlamp, we navigated our way down on dusk. Unfortunately, low cloud over Hervey Range spoilt any chance of a memorable sunset typical of what we usually witness from this special part of the world, however the views and company sure made up for it!
We’re looking forward to seeing everyone at our regular group events suitable for all ages, fitness levels and capabilities some time in what we all hope is the near future!
